I left my laptop at work yesterday and wrote a quite a bit on my older work Core. It was very interesting to read the piece to get reacquainted with it. When I began writing it in 2011 I had not read Princess of Mars or seen the movie John Carter, while my plot is very different and based on our current understanding of physics I can see how some will say that I was using Burrough’s ideas of transporting across the galaxy. That is about the only thing that it has in common with these works. Hero is very different as well as the antagonists. I was able to get some excellent writing done and I think that I am going to present this story in a somewhat different manner. Looking at the material I think that I am going to finish this piece as a juvenile work written for young teens. The story is so fun to write and I hope fun to read that I want to offer it those that may be struggling with reading in the hope that it will intrigue them to read this and more!
Also worked on The Last Hunt which is emotionally challenging for me because it is about my friend Clint that died in Iraq. It was interesting to reread what I had already written because it was very immature. It was as if the emotions involved were not allowing me to write at my full potential. I was able to clean up what I had written so far and add some additional material.
Thanks for those that are following my works. I have also booked my first book signing at Page Turner in Leesville, LA. I have been kicking around the idea of doing this for some time so when I walked in the the book store Friday I said what the heck and made the arrangements.
Yes, I am currently writing 3+ books at the same time but what the heck I used to read that many books at one time. Wish me luck!
